Cirrus - A Lesson for the Right Hand

Cirrus is a (lesson) piece I wrote a while back to illustrate what could be done with the right-hand using closed position seventh chords. I add in bass notes later on in the piece for contrast (not planned of course) and there you have it. This is actually Lesson 30 from my online piano lessons where I break this piece down and show you how I did it (and how you can too!!)

Recommended Listening - Pianoscapes

This is the CD that kicked off the Narada label and sold millions of copies. An antidote for a stressed out world. I was attracted to it immediately. There's something about nature imagery and instrumental music that gets me hooked. I must look at the CD and listen to it. And that's what I did.

I wasn't disappointed. Michael's music is evanescent and floats in the air. Very good for introspection or drifting away, the music seeps slowly into your being and stays there for a while. Not that you need "to use" the music for anything. It's art pure and simple and can be appreciated for what it is - great New Age piano music!

Nature as Inspiration

There is a style of painting known as Plein Air. Artists take their inspiration directly from nature and transfer it onto canvas. They have societies and something called "paint outs" where enthusiasts gather to create and share in the love of painting and nature.

I'd like to do the same thing for New Age piano and am seriously considering creating either a New Age piano society for people here in California or perhaps a national society. There are plenty of musicians interested in this very impressionistic art form and why not gather us togther for mutual support.

New Look for Quiescence Music

Hi everyone. It's been a while since my last post but I've been busy. I've redesigned the site for an easier navigation experience and, I think, a better look! I'll be adding more features and things for you to enjoy as time goes by!
