New Age Music And The People Who Hate It

I'm always amused when people put down the New Age music genre. Especially since they have such a visceral response to the term.

But if I question them about what they dislike about it, they usually say something like, "it's too wimpy," or "it's not real music."

Then when I ask what's not real about it, that usually stops them dead in their tracks. Why? Because now they have to question their own beliefs about what music is.

Personally, I think New Age music is a lot like Neil Diamond - you either really like it or not. But, and this is interesting in itself, most people who say they don't like Neil Diamond secretly do but won't admit it because it's not cool.
