What is George Winston Doing?

Ah George. Love the guy's music. But what is he doing here? Simple. He's playing a left-hand ostinato pattern and improvising melody in the right hand.

In the beginning of this video, George says he uses the circle of fifths. And he's right! A few chords from the circle played a left hand ostinato pattern is all that is required to create a beautiful piece of music like this.

But how do you think he actually came up with the idea? I mean, did he create the melody or the chord progression first?

Tell me what you think.
