Recommended Listening: Siren - Louis Landon
Here's a good example of a left-hand ostinato pattern and right hand improvisation. Louis gets the left hand down and plays all kinds of nice arpeggios in the right.
Notice how he uses contrast to alleviate the 'boredom' that occurs if too much repetition is involved. Nothing complicated. Just some nice melodic contrast and then a return again to the original 'idea.'
