Have you seen the move "The Piano?" In it, Holly Hunter's character Ada plays the piano. Listeners commented that her music was like "a mood that passes through you."
I remember when I first saw the movie. I think it came out in the late 1980's. But the music... ah that music hypnotized me and went perfectly with the visuals on screen. I loved that music and indeed, it was like a mood that passed through you. Nothing you could grasp per se, but something about that music that called up poignant memories of things that may or may not have happened.
A lot of people who saw the movie and listened to the soundtrack describe the music as "New Age." That's fine by me.
