Recommended Listening: Amber Waves by Chuck Brown

I liked this one immediately. Love the harmonies used here. But what I'd like for you to 'get' in this one is how Chuck uses repetition and contrast to create his music.

The piece begins with some nice chords and a bit of melody - yet this is plenty to create a 'theme.' A theme Chuck returns to again and again. Contrast is introduced and a (B) section makes it's appearance. Actually, if I were to 'chart out' this composition, it might look like this: ABABA.

Chuck Brown has some very nice sites. Visit http://freesolopiano.com/ now to see one I really like!
