Arpeggios and New Age Piano Playing

One of the more widely used techniques for creating music on the piano is to use the arpeggio (or crossover) technique. Here we can cover a large portion of the keyboard with the left hand while the right plays melodies, textures, etc.

George Winston uses the arpeggio extensively in his music as does David Lanz. Why? Because it allows the performer/creator to create the background of the improvisation or composition very easily.
