Right Hand as Harmonic Background

Some of you have requested that I show you more of what you can do with the right hand. And I will oblige.

In my next lesson, I'm going to show you how to use the right hand to create a harmonic background (similar to what this pianist is doing.)

Now, it's not going to be as fast or as technically demanding as this Chopin prelude, but I wanted you to see how composers of the past used the piano - and the right hand to create a beautiful harmonic texture.

You see, I'm pretty sure this is how Chopin composed this prelude. He must have charted out the right hand chords and added in the left hand as an improvised melody.

Actually, this piece is almost all texture and flash. But it's the technique that's worth looking into, i.e. what the right hand is doing.
