Why I Like Bob Ross

For those of you who don't know, Bob Ross is a painter who specializes in showing people how to paint complete landscape scenes in about a half-hour. I've never really painted before, but I've always loved watching this man paint on TV - (he hosted a PBS special for many years.)

The thing about him that inspires me is his attitude. I'm sure he knows that he's not creating "masterpieces," but he doesn't seem to care. In fact, just watching his happy, serene face for 30 minutes proves my point about creating. His focus is on enjoying the process. And art is a very subjective thing anyway.

Many people love his art. And those who don't are usually the "serious" artists who need constant validation from the outside world to prove their worth. Bob died in 1995 but his show still lives on.
